ABOUT US
Tomato Plant was conceived in mid 2010 by Keith Williams.
Keith is no stranger to successful business ventures, being the founder and former owner of Rickmansworth based drainage services outfit, Comet Tankers. With Keith at the helm, Comet grew to be a £6.5m turnover business in the 10 years before it was sold to PIMS Group in 2009.
Background
Having sold Comet tankers Keith was on the lookout for a new challenge.
Keith has always been a big fan of large trucks so heavy haulage seemed a natural progression from tankers. He is a great believer in a high quality of customer service coupled with a strong company image; you only have to look at the Tomato Plant fleet to see the truth in that.
"My philosophy has always been to buy the best equipment for the job and to treat my customers with the greatest care and respect" says Keith, "I have found that this approach attracts high calibre, loyal staff whilst also helping to build a first class client portfolio. In my opinion, a smart image is a key ingredient for success. We have invested a lot in great design for our logos and livery, we keep our vehicles clean, tidy and in top condition. Why should customers trust us with their property if we can't look after our own equipment?"
Keith believes that there is always room for a bit of fun in business, "Why would you want to get out of bed every morning if you don't enjoy your work? I believe the company name and graphics bring a bit of fun into the haulage business. People probably wouldn't notice lorries with K. Williams Transport written all over them but the Tomato trucks get smiles and waves wherever they go".

Health & Safety and Environmental
Tomato Plant takes employee competence very seriously, especially where it may impact on health and safety and environmental issues. All operatives receive full training relevant to their role including: Confined Space Operations, IPAF, CSCS, CPCS, Loader Securer, HIAB Crane Operations, as well as driving to reduce environmental impact and basic health and safety and environmental awareness training.
All our vehicles are "Low Emission Zone" compliant and are approved for access to Crossrail sites. Tomato Plant has also attained the Transport for London F.O.R.S. Silver standard.
Heathrow Airside Operations
All Tomato vehicles and drivers/operatives, in all our divisions, have airside passes for Heathrow Airport, enabling us to deliver and collect loads to and from Heathrow Airside (subject to loads having an apron pass*). Tomato Plant’s depot is in Iver, Buckinghamshire, just a 10 minute drive from Heathrow, so we are ideally situated for operating in and out of the airport.

ACCREDITATION
Tomato Plant is currently working towards the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation standards. We are members of the Road Haulage Association, ALLMI and are FORS Accredited.
